Metroplexian Issue #1
Drafted into the city of Dallas I have always been. I was born from parents whose genealogy like alot of Americans goes back all the way back to European powers of old. I have always enjoyed the stories of history whether about Dallas or my families genealogy. Thats how I have fallen so far in love with my Dallas coupled with my love of history and the forever progressing nature of this city. I guess I have a little bit of that old world mindset towards the city that sits alone on the prairie said by some to be there for no reason. In return to those words I have said many times
“the things that have the least purpose those are the things that have the most”
This idea is something I firmly believe in and try to put into much of my work. While its applications to all events and activities in my life may not be obvious like Dallas and its purpose for simply existing, the creativity in doing so drives me past normal boundaries. Do you break your boundaries everyday spending a moment on those crazy ideas. That is what I find most interesting. Places, People, things, ideas that take the mind into its most distant catacombs can you go there cause people that change the world do and believe in it.

The picture was taken at the Dallas Fair Park Esplanade. This was the site of the Texas Centennial Exposition in 1936. The entire city park was redesigned into Southwest Art Deco by George Dahl for the Exposition which was classified as a Worlds Fair. Originally the park was Victorian style but the City Business leaders of the time offered the park to the organization planning the Texas Centennial celebration and after the group looked at many potential sites around Texas they choose Dallas Fair Park.Currently the Park is one of the only largest collections of Art Deco Exposition buildings still in use today. The State Fair of Texas is held there every year which runs mid September to mid October and is one the largest attended Fairs still around and to this day regularly breaks past attendance records.
